Muscovy at the Malmsbury Lake

 

 

My Mothers Day gift.  I'm so thankful to have wonderful children and I don't believe in gifts for Mothers Day.  However as well as a lovely day out I received 3 Muscovy ducks.  They are locally bred ducks and as far as I can tell listening to duck talk they are very happy here.

 

 

We have a Pekin duck called Ducky Do.  Ducky do had a friend who sadly dropped dead.

All the ducks are happy living together.

The Muscovy ducks like to swim and splash in their pool - but one at a time.  

The Golden Egg

These are two very happy and noisy ducks.

They have a very nice yard and pond all to themselves.

And magically one day they laid 3 eggs.  The day before the magic egg we had collected 2 eggs and the day after we collected 2 eggs.  

More of the Farmyard

Our ducks are growing.  Guess they are teenagers now. They are still a bit flighty so I can't get a photo of them swimming in their bright blue clam shell swimming pool.

Hurtle likes to visit the chooks, ducks and sheep on his morning walk.  I noticed today one on the chooks chasing him.  Hurtle seemed most offended. 

Our Duck Family

Our duck family used to number 3 or 4 ducks.  They come to visit our dam after a swim in the creek.

With such a great season the duck population has increased enormously.  I have counted 31 ducks this year.

After a chat the ducks are leaving to visit the dam next door.  The ducks leave in 2 separate groups.

Blogtoberfest Day 2

Well here we are at Day 2 of Blogtoberfest  I don't feel I'll be short of ideas for blogging, its just the time.

Ducks are out in numbers today.   Mopsy and I disturbed ducks swimming on the creek early this morning. More ducks have been grazing around the dam.  I couldn't get any closer to these two without disturbing them. 

Well I'm off to the Daylesford Makers Market, all packed and ready to go.
