My Chooks (Chickens)

I haven't had chooks for a while - just seemed to have a bit of bad luck.  Really missed not having fresh eggs so off I went tot he chook factory and bought 6 chooks.  these chooks were at the end of their egg laying life in the commercial world.

Quite a few feathers were missing however after just a couple of weeks we have happy hens who are regrowing their feathers and laying 4 eggs each day.

Always there has to be the hen pecker and this girl is the one in the group.  Don't laugh - this chook has been undergoing some special training.   Gradually I feel I am encouraging her to be a more pleasant animal.

A Walk in the Park

At the weekend David and I decided to take the dogs to the park. They had so much energy and we felt like a walk.  Nature was producing some wonderful colour.  But once the dogs were out of the car there wasn't much of a chance to see anything.

It didn't take Darwin long to find the muddy pool.  For those of you who know Darwin you are not surprised at this.

So this muddy dog expected to get into the wagon to come home.

Further along on our walk we found a pond.  Darwin proudly showed off his swimming skills which have much improved and he even left the ducks to swim in peace.

No mater how much I encouraged Mopsy to join Darwin for a swim she was not swimming on such a cold day.  Sensible girl.

Today Darwin has gone to visit the lovely grooming lady.  He is having a tidy up clip and shampoo.  I was a bit embarrassed he was so muddy but no point washing him twice.

Bruce Mathiske Live at Learmonth

A couple of weeks ago we went to a Bruce Mathiske concert at the Learmonth Arts Hall.  For many years we have enjoyed Bruce's  music.  The location for this concert was fabulous.  We enjoyed a coffee at the Cafe 321 next door before the show.

The entrance to the hall was decorated with a plastic bucket of plastic flowers!!  The hall area was separated from the other spaces with filmy panels hanging from the ceiling.  Artworks were hanging on the walls around the hall.

Seating was a choice of a kitchen chair - you could choose from many styles of kitchen chair, some even swivel.  Or for the early birds like us we managed to sit on one of the few couches draped in velvet - had a feeling the velvet was recycled curtains.  And for the real 70's touch there were candles in bottles and tables with red table cloths.

The stage with colourful backdrop.
