Rainy Day

 

Another rainy day.

I had planned on spending time in the garden but that won't happen today.

 

 

 

I have been listing yarns on Etsy.  I still have a few more to list this week.

This is an English Leicester multi colour mini 25 metre hank.

 

The sheep still arrive at the gate at the same time every morning.

They do enjoy a breakfast of Lucerne hay.

 

 

I have been dyeing 8 ply merino yarns.  More to do today.

 

And finally I have spun some black merino chunky.  Will wind off into 50 and 25 metre hanks.

 

Always lots to do in the day.  I'm now going to weave.  Have nearly finished a rug.

Spinning and Dyeing

 

Merino Chunky yarn I have spun and dyed.  The weather is still cold and I am happy to be spinning most days.

Some yarn is for the Arts Centre Market in Melbourne and today I am listing yarns on my Etsy shop.  At the end of last week I had dyed merino chunky I had wound into 25 metre mini hanks.  The yarn dried over the weekend and now I'm photographing and listing.

Yarn Dyeing

 

 

 

 

Lots of yarn spinning and dyeing has been happening here.

 

This is some merino chunky yarn, hand spun and hand dyed.

 

These yarns will be available at Fibre Arts Winter School which will be held at Ballarat Grammar

.

I will have a stall there on Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd July from 8 am until 7.30 or 8 pm both days.

 

Yarns I will be dyeing for the event will be 4 ply, 8 ply merino and 10 ply merino as well as hand spun English Leicester and Merino.  Also lustrous hand dyed English Leicester fleece which I will photograph for the blog tomorrow.

 

 

Spinning more Yarn

This week I am spinning chunky yarn for the Australian Ballet Costume Department.  Today I am spinning white  English Leicester which I will dye later in the week.

As well as dyed yarn I will be spinning some natural grey. This afternoon I am sorting through volumes of grey fleece .  The weather has been very kind and I have managed to dry fleeces over the past week.

The yarn is to be used for costumes for Sleepy Beauty which will be performed later in the year by the Australian Ballet.

Scarf Week

Last Sunday I sold out of scarves so this week has been a scarf production week. Black and white mix  is always popular.  And I have sold this scarf  so will make another black and white version.

 

A mix of greys, white and a touch of black.

And I have started on some colourful scarves as well.

Colours this week

I dyed an apricot and a mix of apricot and grey.

Also dyed my Scarlet Pimpernel colourway as well as a lush orange mix.

Autumn Light

Today I have been taking lots of photos.  I have listed more chunky yarn on the website and have taken photos for the listings.  This yarn I have dyed this week is for the Arts Centre Melbourne Market on Sunday.

We have faster Internet now and it makes life so much easier.  So more stock on the website and more blogs as it will not take forever to load a photo.

Today was a beautiful Autumn day here. I'm off to coolect the eggs and feed the animals.  Will take my time and make the most of the late afternoon sun.

What to Knit with Chunky Yarn

As I am often asked what can be knitted using a hank of Chunky yarn I thought it was time to give you some ideas.

One hank of Chunky (50 metres) and a small amount of 8 ply (DK)  will be enough yarn to knit you a beret.

The rib bank is knitted using 2 strands of 8ply yarn.  The pattern is available free with the purchase of a hank of chunky.

Markets on Saturday and Sunday

Next Saturday I have a stall at the Buninyong Farmers Market.  My stall is inside the Town Hall.  I have been spinning Chunky yarn and this is the first batch of colours for next weekend. I will be dyeing more yarn tomorrow and Thursday so I have a good range of colours for you to choose from. Knitting weather is definitely here.

Last Minute Things To Do

This bobbin of yarn  needs to be transformed into dyed chunky yarn today.  I am about to wind the yarn into hanks and start dyeing.  The slow combustion stove is warming the house so if I hang the yarn in the loft it will dry overnight.

The set up for the Stitches and Craft Show on Sunday needs to be quick and easy.  As I'm only going to be there one day I need to set up on Sunday morning before the show starts for the day.  Yesterday I purchased this cane garden cone to display yarn.  I will make a calico cover and I can then take the display set up. 

Well back to work.....

Craft Show on Sunday

Seem to have Chunky yarn everywhere.  This weather brings on the orders.  Stitches and Craft on Sunday and I'll have lots of Chunky yarn there.

Have been felting hatband for kits.  Nearly ready for the Stitches and Craft Show on at Caulfield Racecourse.  I'll be there on Sunday only, on the 1st floor, stand i2

Walking

Another puppy picture. One puppy was almost all black. Just think all nine will grow into dogs like Darwin below.

Brie was home for the weekend. We took the mighty Darwin for a walk. Darwin is Brie's dog and he loves to see her. And he really misses Brie when she goes home and I guess that is why Darwin and I need to have a serious talk about his behaviour today.

The Ballarat Gardens are looking majestic at the moment. I have taken a few photos and will include them over the next week. Recent rain has given the gardens that lush green grass and colourful blooms.
